Why is Market Research Necessary?

Written By Kautsar R.Aritona on 6/02/2011 | 3:35 PM

There's nothing worse than investing time and money creating and marketing a product, just to learn too late that no one wants to buy it.  By conducting market research before you decide what product to develop, you can determine if there is a need for it before investing time and money.   Market research is  simply the testing of the market to determine the acceptance of a particular product or service, especially among different demographics.  It is used to establish which portion of the population, classified according to age, gender, location, income level, has the capability to purchase a product or service.  It usually answers questions like: How successful your product/service is likely to be. What price you can expect to sell your product/service for. And what age range your product/service will be suitable for.

However, not all are good in doing this especially if the market is too vast like that in UK. Many business owners there have skipped this process and have gone into the market with all the wrong ideas.   But thanks to a lot of telemarketing call centers that are sprouting today. They have aided a lot of businesses to do their market research by:

Doing Telephone Surveys

Professional telemarketers will do the telephone survey for you. This process is more or less presenting your product and service to them and finding out how that product or service will fit their current needs.  The call may determine if target audience will respond favorably or unfavorably to your offering.  This way you will able to know if you should move forward with sales of the item or not.

Collecting Information/Developing Research Plan

Educated telemarketers have also the ability to develop your research plan.  The information that they can get from a survey or study will allow you to sort out the details you need to make a reasonable marketing decision.  They can provide you with data that you will need by contacting the exact people regarding their current needs, wants and preferences.

Helping in your Final Decision-making

Once the telemarketers have gathered all the data that you need and have analyzed it to make sure it is relevant and pertains to your product or service, then you can decide the final plan.

The final report will help you to decide to either move ahead with marketing your product or service or to say enough is enough and you realize that it just won't work.  Remember marketing research must be done whether you are an independent business person or a company making millions of dollars other wise you will be wasting a lot of time and money going nowhere.

Surely you can't afford to take chances on starting up a business without getting much information about your entire market audience.  You need to know the ground truth about your business ideas before you spend countless hours and money taking a new product or service to the market.  Find out what your customers want, and what they will pay for it by the help of telemarketing call centres, surely with them you can ensure success.
